A Famille Rose Charger, imported from China at the beginning of the last century and passed to the vendor’s grandfather in a game of cards, depicted two polychrome Imperial five-claw dragons, synonymous with the Emperor. Six online bidders took the bid up to £23,000 and eight telephone bidders pushed the final bid up to £27,000 – a lovely surprise for the vendor when they returned home from holiday.
